This SONY CCP-13B Cassette Printer was designed to make 4 high speed cassette duplications from one mother tape simulatneously. It can also connect to any amout of SONY CCP-04B slave cassette printer, in which the CCP-04B is designed to make up to 4 high speed duplicates simulatneously when connected to the CCP-13B. So schools or offices which used to own these machines tend to keep one master machine and several slave machines to meet up their quantity of demand.
This model that I got was from a friend which their family used to own a business selling copied tapes during the late 80’s and early 90’s. The reason I asked for this long obsoleted machine is because that it remind me of the book by Walter Benjamin-“The work of art in the age of machenical reproduction”.
Cassettes as a form of reproduced art have some particular characteristics, such as the decrease in sound quality. These losses of fidelity is based on the loss of substance which in this case is the diviation an misplacement of magnetic particals.
There are other simillar forms of reproduced art which suffer from quality losses during the process of reproducing. I am very intrigued by this fasinating characterisitc which physical matter can have.

After the overhull, all the machanisms on this machine will run properly. But because this model was designed for fast replication so it did’t came with a case to protect the tape heads and machanisms. This machine arrived at me in awful conditon since it had been left naked at a garage corner for decades. Luckily, nothing destructive has ever happend to this machine. Though there are several leaked capacitors and the tape heads are all kind of oxydized.
